LITURGY COMMITTEE MINUTES

TUESDAY DECEMBER 7TH 2004

Meeting opened with prayer and song (Roger) followed by reflection and report by Father. (details to follow)

Present at meeting: Gwenn, Carole, Roger, Joan, Flora and Father

13. FATHER BERNARDINO’S REPORT – PASTORAL MINISTRY

Father read from Liturgy handbook – guide and presented guide to Roger-very informative. Discussed cycles A according to Matthew, B according to Mark and C according to Luke with a little input from John. Cycle starts 1st Sunday of Advent to feast of Christ the King. Roger to call Linda to obtain a form for evaluation of our Liturgy.

Father would like to see a church calendar developed for big events and anniversaries to be observed in our parish such as Pearl Harbor.

Father also suggested recognizing the theme for the year, last year the theme was water.

Pastors want everyone in parish to participate in Liturgy.

Coordinator vs. Commentator still seems to be an issue, working on a resolution.

1. and 2. LitCom Vice Chair, Gwenn Ehrlich – Eucharistic Ministers and Janet Chandler – Lectors and Commentators

December schedule out and available in sacristy. Schedule was incomplete for the Christmas Eve Children’s Mass and Midnight Mass. Have had some response to the request in cover letter for December schedule and also the announcement of needed ministers has produced some response. If all minister slots are not filled Gwenn and Janet will call from list of ministers to make sure each Christmas Mass has adequate ministers. Still having issues with the amount of ministers willing to serve or showing up at the their scheduled masses. Will begin putting together Jan/Feb schedule in a week or so.

Everything is going great. Discussion on streamlining announcements and listing by priority.

It was confirmed that at Children’s Mass, Midnight Mass and Christmas Mass no announcements needed.

Father suggested that no more than two binders be available. One for the Commentator/Reader and one for the Presider.

JOAN PECKHAM – RCIA

Normal ritual before Easter won’t happen this coming year due to ending up with 4 baptized Catholics.

Will be Confirmed and First Eucharist Jan 16th 2005 by Father Bernardino not the Bishop.

Respectfully submitted and yours in Jesus always,

Gwenn
